Viking style knives

**UPDATE** Now Sold Out

I have stopped taking orders for these knives to give myself time to catch up with demand and also time to develop a new and improved model.

A chap recently got in touch with me and asked if I could make him a version of the Viking style eating knife from one of my videos, I agreed, I also made one for myself and a few more too! They are better made than the first knife, still far from perfect but then again that is reflected in the price. Each batch of knives will be more expensive as I get more proficient at their making!

The blades are made from recycled chop saw blades, or 1075/80crv2 stock (same metal used in the saw blades). I hand forge the shape and the bevels, normalize 3 times to take stresses out the metal, heat treat the blade, temper twice and then grind in a convex bevel right to the edge. I then use ceramic rods to add a 20 degree micro bevel, every knife is sent out shaving sharp!

The handles are well seasoned Yew wood or Oak from my own woods, and the little ferrule is from a piece of copper plumbing pipe. Both handle and blade are about 100mm (4″). Lower down this page is a link to the new video where you can see all the details of their manufacture.

Knives are £52 each (which includes the postage and packing).
