We all have a fairly good idea of what weaponry the Vikings used but what about their lesser known kit?
In this set of videos I set out to make what I reckoned your average lower class Norse chap of Viking times may have carried with him on his ‘adventures’.
I started with a simple eating knife, then a beaker, then I made a hook knife and used that and the first knife to carve a spoon. I then finished the set with a bowl turned on a vintage (but not quite Viking era!) lathe.
The idea was that if I got good enough at making these items I could offer them for sale, so far the spoons and the eating knife have make it to this category. I am currently working on new improved versions of the beaker. I have also made the carving tools I use available to order.
